The Board of Christian Education is a committee established to aid the church members and the community in both the spiritual and natural areas of their lives.

Spiritually, we oversee the Sunday School which meets every Sunday at 10:00 am, with classes for Children, Men and Women. We also have a newly formed Children’s Church School which meets every 3rd Sunday of each month, during the 11:30 service. For teenagers and pre-teens we have Youth Fellowship, a fun-filled Friday evening of activities that range from game night to outings and Bible Study with the Pastor.

To ensure good and healthy living for the members of the church and the community we have presented workshops covering a variety of topics: Budgeting and Finance,     Healthy Eating, Helping Your Money Last Through Your Senior Years, Planning for Your Child to Go to College.

We have a particular concern for the education of African-American children. We have held such workshops as: The Back to School Workshops (a series of workshops held in August to help your children get back into the “swing” of school life).

These workshops focus on parents as well, with such topics as “How to Talk to Your Child’s Teacher”, “Handling Special Education Programs for Your Child” and “How to Help Your Child Study”. These sessions have also included reading and writing for students of all ages.

Annually the Board of Christian Education presents 3 programs:

  • The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day Program
  • Baccalaureate Sunday
  • Black History Month Celebration

These programs are held to raise the consciousness of our congregation and community regarding the need to embrace our past so we can progress in the future. With Baccalaureate Sunday we recognize the graduations of our members from one level of education to another with a particular focus on College Graduations. The Church’s scholarship programs are recognized on this day as outstanding students are awarded and recognized.

Give your children a foundation in the Bible. Introduce them to God and help develop a life-long relationship with God and the Church.
